How long does bi-fold door installation take?

Most bi-fold door installations are completed in a single day. Larger multi-panel sets may take a day and a half. We'll give you an accurate timeframe when we quote.

Do I need planning permission for bi-fold doors?

Not usually. Fitting bi-fold doors in an existing opening is permitted development in most cases. If you're making the opening larger, permitted development rules may apply — we'll advise during the survey.

What is the minimum and maximum width?

Bi-fold doors typically start from around 1.8m wide (2 panels) up to 6m wide (5–7 panels). Patio doors usually span 1.5m to 4m.

Which way do the panels fold?

You can choose to fold all panels to one side, or split them so they fold outward from the centre. We'll advise the best configuration for your space during the survey.

Are bi-fold doors energy efficient?

Yes — all our bi-fold doors come with A-rated double glazing as standard. Triple glazing is also available for maximum thermal performance.

Can bi-fold doors open fully?

Yes — when fully open, the entire door set folds neatly to the side, leaving the opening completely clear. This is what makes them so popular for connecting living spaces to gardens.
